Jean-Hugues Féray
International Principal Dancer
Jean-Hugues Féray was born in Caen in Normandy and began dancing at the age of 9.
The following year he returned to the Paris Opera School of Dance and then to the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris where in 1989 he received a first Prize unanimously from the jury in the Class of Mr Cyril Atanassoff.
In 1990, Jean-Hugues was hired by Rudolf Nureyev to participate in his version of Cinderella at the San Carlo Theatre in Naples.
In 1991 he joined the National Ballet of Nancy under the direction of Pierre Lacotte where he remained for 7 years. It will have the chance to be distributed in many early roles. The company will tour all over the world, especially in the Moscow Bolshoi invited by Vladimir Vasiliev. Jean-Hugues will dance the variation of the Harlequin in «La Somnambule» of Balanchine and «Soirée de Fête» among others.
In 1998 Jean-Hugues goes to the United States where he is hired as Principal at the «Ballet Florida» where he will dance all the first roles with Choreographers and Directors of the New York City Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, Houston Ballet etc.
In 1999 he returned to France after being hired at the Ballet National de Marseille by Marie-Claude Pietragalla, then returned to the «Ballet Florida» from 2002 to 2009.
In the summer of 2009 he opened his Ecole de Danse in Florida (Paris Ballet and Dance and Paris Ballet Conservatory) which is now one of the most renowned in the region and which has about 130 students.
In 2017 he created an International Internship with his school at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts in West Palm Beach, Florida, where he had the pleasure of inviting Charles Jude as a teacher.
Jean-Hugues is delighted to return to France this summer to teach at the Stage International de Danse in Arcachon.
