Star Dancer of the Paris Opera

Wilfried Romoli discovered dance at the age of nine and entered the Ecole de l’Opéra de Paris a year later.

 He joined the Corps de ballet (1979) at the age of sixteen, and was “Quadrille” the following year, “Coryphée” in 1982 and “Sujet” in 1983.
 His performance in Maurice Béjart’s Le Corsaire and Bhakti III alongside Marie-Claude Pietragalla won him the First Prize of the Concours International de Danse de Paris in 1984.
In 1988, he was the exceptional interpreter of Bob Wilson’s Martyrdom of San Sebastian.
 Promoted “First Dancer” in 1989, he received a standing ovation from the hall.
Following the roles of soloist, he forms with Claude de Vulpian the fatal couple of L’Histoire de Manon by Kenneth Macmillan., danse Aunis by Jacques Garnier and participates in all the great classics of the repertoire (Giselle, Le lac ,Suite in white …. ).
 A privileged performer of Rudolf Noureev, he distributes him in many of his ballets: Raymonda, Romeo and Juliet, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixote and offers him the role of ‘Solor’ in his latest production La Bayadère.
 His curiosity, his energy and his taste for novelty made him take an early interest in contemporary dance.
Some encounters with great choreographers thus mark his career as a dancer: John Neumeier, Roland Petit, Jerome Robbins, Maguy Marin, Angelin Preljocaj,Mats Ek, Pina Bausch,Jiri Killian … to name just a few, call upon him regularly.

He is one of the strongest pillars of the Paris Opera Ballet.

He was named “Star Dancer” on February 3, 2005 following the creation of “Ich Bin” by Suzanne Linke.
2002 He was named Knight of the Arts and Letters and Knight of the National Order of Merit in 2005
 He said his farewell in May 2008 and was named Commander of Arts and Letters.
He began his teaching career in September 2008 at the Ecole de Danse de l’Opéra de Paris, where he taught courses at the 4th Division as well as the Pas de Deux and Repertoire courses at the Première Division. He has been a teacher of the first boys’ division since 2017.
Within the School he makes work various ballets: Trap of Light by John Taras, Accords Essences by Florent Melac, Symphony in three Movements by Niels Christie , Aunis by Jaques Garnier. A Ballo by Jiri Kyllian , Vertiginous by William Forsythe , d Ores and Déjà by Béatrice Massin and Nicolas Paul , Raymonda. He participates in various internships: Helsinki , Madrid, New York , Zurich , Marseille. The company Alvin Ailey invites him on the tour of the Etés de la Danse 2012 , 2015. The Bordeaux Opera Company in 2019 . He brings up the Ballet Aunis by J Garnier for the Ecole de Danse de l’Opera de Paris , the ballet corps of L’Opéra de Paris, Le Ballet National de Vienne , Les Ballets du Rhin. He is coach and jury of the first Nureyev competition in Rimini.
He plays for the first time at the theatre in 2009 in Paris in Page 157 by Emmanuel Dupuis
He is also a performer in four feature films by Pierre Jolivet: Filles Uniques Zim and CO and La très grande Entreprise , Les hommes du feu .
 He also toured under the direction of Uda Benyamina in Divines.
In 2011 he performed at the Théâtre de la Ville Le Funambule solo by Angelin Preljocaj text by Jean Genet.
